Kirwan on top
Richard Kirwan made every post a winner when taking victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Canterbury Tree Topping, 48km handicap event around the Grahams Road block on Sunday.
Kirwan and his co-markers kept the tempo high finding the front of the race inside the final 10km, holding on strongly as the chasing bunches were on the hunt.
In the charge to the line it was Kirwan who had the final say hitting the line strongly to take the win.
Ross Templeton lost no admirers storming into second place.
Eamon Hooper produced one of his best rides of the season to see him take the final podium position.
Bridget Scott was in the thick of the finish and was rewarded for a tough ride taking the fourth place spoils.
Dave Shurrock held on gamely to claim fifth place, with Paul Chapman leading the chasing bunch in to round out the top six.
Jack Gorrie continued his good run of form, lifting fastest time honours, riding the distance in 62.27
Co-markers Kyle Gray and Paul Gow recorded second the third time.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.
Jamie Hooper went back to back, producing arguably his best ride of the season to see off all challengers, and take the win.
Oscar Gorrie found the line strongly to take second place.
Flynn Scott will be happy with his days work, charging into third place.
Back marker Ethan Scott rode through to fourth place and in doing so recorded fastest time, covering the course in 29.29.
Declan Gilbert and Lucy Hudson rounded out the top six.
Liz Wylie took division 2 honours getting up over Kenny Johnston and Stacey Hooper.
Pippa Scott was victorious in the future roadies grade, with Isabella Harris and Brooklyn Richards filling the minor placings.
Next week the Club will travel to Hinds to contest a 54km handicap event.
