Kircher sprints to victory
Darrell Kircher put his sprinting prowess to good use when taking victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, The Sausage Man, ANZCO Foods, 48km handicap race around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
Kircher and a solid bunch of middle - back markers had come to together mid race and fought hard to find the front of the race on the final lap.
In the charge to the line it was Kircher renowned for his quick finishes who crossed the line first to lift the Farmers Cup.
Alex Mann produced a top effort to step onto the second step of the podium for the second week running.
Ralph Tompsett is starting to come into good form and was rewarded for a great ride with third place.
John Wilson is another not far away from a big result, found the line strongly to take fourth place.
Quinten Lawler and Kris Bowditch rounded out the top six.
Scratch marker Craig Domigan rode the course in 63.48 to claim fastest time honours.
Kyle Gray and Paul Gow took second and third time respectively.
The juniors and division 2 raced over 16km.
Lucy Hudson continues to impress with a strong ride to see of all challengers and secure the victors spoils.
The final podium positions came down to a grandstand finish.
Nic Dalley produced one last effort on the line to take second place.
Dane Broomhall was right on his shoulder to claim third place.
Big brother Blake Broomhall had stormed through the field from the back mark to get within a bikes length to take fourth place and record fastest time.
Blake rode the distance in 27.01.
Oscar Gorrie was hard on his wheel to round out the top five.
Toresa Hooper took division 2 bragging rights by the barest of margins over Stacey Hooper.
The future roadies contested a 6km event.
Isabella Harris continues her good form taking the win from Jamie Hooper, Brooklyn Richards, and Pippa Scott.
Next week the Club will travel to Terrace Downs to contest a 50km handicap race.
