Hendrikson has final say
Jelle Hendrikson made the trip to the Mid Canterbury lowlands a memorable one, taking the victors spoils in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, 43km handicap event around the Methven block on Sunday.
Hendrikson’s efforts saw hm lift the Dean Cooksley Memorial Trophy.
The race was decided inside the last 100metres when Hendrikson hit the front and held on strongly to take the win from the ever-improving Bridget Scott.
Paul Summerfield worked hard to secure the final podium position, getting up over his brother Don Summerfield in the shadow of the line.
John Doherty and Richard Kirwan rounded out the top six in the big field that numbered close to 50 riders.
Back marker Andre Free rode the course in 53.37, to secure fastest time honours.
Co-marker Jack Gorrie, and Steve Hands recorded second and third time.
The juniors and division 2 contested a 14km handicap race.
Carter Shepherd produced a standout ride to claim victory riding of the middle marks.
Jamie Hooper held on gamely to secure the second-place spoils.
Lucy Hudson continues to impress with a strong ride to claim third place.
Declan Gilbert and Nic Dalley were close behind to fill out the top 5 spots.
Scratch rider Oscar Gorrie covered the distance in 26.38, to record fastest time.
Stacey Hooper took division 2 bragging rights, taking the win from Alan Johns.
Brooklyn Richards claimed the future roadies spoils.
Next week the Club will travel to Rakaia to contest a 50km handicap race.
