Hooper lifts Wylie Cup

Alex Hooper had the best of the charge to the line to secure victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, 45km handicap race around the Christys Road block on Sunday.

Hooper’s efforts saw him lift the Allan Wylie Memorial Cup.

The winning bunch only found the front inside the final 400 metres and would have been acutely aware that back markers were hot on the tail, finishing only 17 seconds behind them.

Brad Hudson stormed into second place with the ever present Dave Knight stepping onto the final podium position.

Jason Wilson produced a solid ride to take fourth place.

Kaidyn Broomhall and Monique Brake rounded out the top six.

Scratch marker Connor Toomey rode the distance in 59.51, to claim fastest time honours.

Craig Domigan and Kyle Gray recorded second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested an 18km handicap event.

Dane Broomhall showed plenty of speed to charge away with the win and also recorded fastest time, riding the course in 39.53.

Lucy Hudson backed up last week top effort with a hard earned second place.

Nic Dalley continues to ride strongly, took third place.

Declan Gilbert and Jamie Hooper filled out the top five spots.

Stacey Hooper held on bravely to take division 2 honours from Toresa Hooper.

Next week the Club will travel to Methven to contest 43km handicap event.
