Richards starts the New Year off with a win

Mike Richards made his step up from division 2 to open racing a memorable one when he took victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, 37km handicap event around the Winchmore Church block on Sunday.

Richards efforts saw him lift the JC Blackburn Memorial Cup.

The race was only decided on the line with Richards getting the best in a close sprint to secure the win from Andrew Shepherd, and Matt Marshall.

Jason Bedford, Eamon Hooper, and Don Morrison were hot on their heels to round out the top six.

Scratch marker Kyle Gray claimed fastest time honours, riding the course in 45.51.  

Craig Domigan and Jack Gorrie recorded second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 17km handicap event.

Lucy Hudson produced a top ride to take the winners spoils.

Oscar Gorrie won a hotly contested sprint to secure second place from Flynn Scott.

Nic Dalley stormed into fourth place with Carter Shepherd close behind in fifth.

Back marker Blake Broomhall rode the distance in 30.58, to take fastest time.

Linda Summerfield had the best of division 2 recording the win from Stacey Hooper, and Nigel Leary.

Brooklyn Richards made it a good day for the Richards stable taking the winners honours in the 6km future roadies division from Isabella Harris, and Pippa Scott.

Next week the Club will contest a 45km handicap event around the Christy’s Road block.
