Club Championship titles up for grabs
Tinwald Cycling Club championship titles were on the line when the Club took to the roads of Wakanui to contest the Nelson Building Society (NBS) supported 64km mass start event on Sunday.
Kyle Gray and Michael Audeau jumped clear of the field inside the first 15km holding out a large chasing bunch. Gray put the pressure on in the concluding stages to break away and ride to victory, covering the distance in 89.30.
Audeau held on strongly to finish second and also lifted the senior age group ribbon.
Cole Harris was the best of the chasing group, riding strongly to take the vet 1 title.
Fourth placegetter was the ever improving Kyra Marett. Marett’s efforts earned her the women’s overall title.
John Wilson was rewarded for a top ride to secure the vet 2 title with the ever present Tony Ward claiming vet 3 honours.
Bridget Scott produced a strong ride to take the vet 1 women’s spoils and third women home honours.
Olivia Greenaway-Ewing found the line strongly to secure second overall women home.
John Doherty was another to produce a top ride and in doing so secured the vet 4 ribbon.
Brad Hudson found him self in the right place at the right time to take sealed handicap honours.
Juniors titles were also up for grabs over a 16km course.
Jack Gorrie produced a stand out ride to take the overall junior title, riding the distance in a quick 21 42.
Louie Audeau continued his good form securing second place, with Kaidyn Broomhall filling the final podium position.
Eliza McKenzie rode a super race to take the under 17 girls title, with Casey Brake close behind in second.
Blake Broomhall had the final say in the under 15 grade to secure the winners spoils and ribbon.
Thomas Stevenson produced his best ride of the season to take second place in the u15 grade and also lift sealed handicap honours.
Oscar Gorrie saw his solid effort take third place in the u15 grade.
Charlotte Stevenson continued her great form to take the girls under 15 title, with Lucy Hudson in second place.
Mike Richards had to many guns in the division 2 to take the win from Liz Wylie and Stacey Hooper.
Isabella Harris was on her best form recording a future roadies win.
The Club will break over the festive season before contesting a 36km handicap event around the Winchmore Church block on 4 January 2026.
