Anyone’s Race – Right to the Line

With the first 25 riders crossing the line within seconds of each other, the outcome of Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Stronechrubie, 45km handicap event in the foot hills of Mt Somers on Sunday was not decided until the finish line was crossed.

It was Chris Gilbert who continued his good vein of form securing his second victory of the season and lifting the victors spoils.

Gilbert and his co-markers worked well together as the middle marks came together, keeping a solid tempo going ensuring the charging back marks came up short by the barest of margins.

Don Sutton produced his best ride of the season to claim second place.

Timaru visitor Hamish Stevenson was in the thick of the finish to round out the final podium position.

Kristine Marriott will be happy with her efforts storming into fourth place.

Scratch markers Jack Gorrie and Kyle Gray recorded a time of 62.13, to claim fastest time honours.  Paul Brake and Tony Ward were amongst the charge to the line to secure second and third time honours.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap race.

Kaidyn Broomhall stormed through the field from the back mark, finding the front of the race in the final few hundred metres to take the win and fastest time honours.

Kaidyn rode the distance in 25.49.

Nick Dalley continued his great run of results with a well-earned second place.

Oscar Gorrie made us of some home town knowledge to secure the third place spoils.
