Hollamby storms to victory
Noah Hollamby put what was to be his last solid hit out before this coming weekends Tour of Southland to good use, taking victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Advance Ashburton, Spray Marks, 48km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
However due to the on-going state of emergency in Southland the Tour has been postponed.
Hollamby and his fellow back markers set a solid pace from the start to work their way through the field, finding the front inside the final kilometres.
Hollamby kicked away in sight of the line to take a comfortable win and secure fastest time honours, riding the course in 62.29.
Craig Domigan led the bunch in to lift the second place spoils.
Amy Hollamby ensured her son Noah wouldn’t have all the bragging rights, produced a top ride to step onto the final podium position.
Michael Audeau will be happy with his efforts taking fourth place.
Kyra Marett and Olivia Greenaway-Ewing made it a good day for the ladies, rounding out the top six.
The juniors contested a 16km handicap event.
The girls were again to fore with Charlotte Stevenson backing up last week’s strong ride, going a couple of places better to take a well-earned win.
Lucy Hudson produced a well-timed sprint finish to secure second place.
Nic Dalley kept his consistent form going with third place.
Jamie Hooper was in the thick of the finish to record fourth place.
Scratch marker Aimee Free rode the distance in 29.29 to lift fastest time honours.
Next week the Club will contest a 44km handicap event around the Wakanui 7 Rises course.
