Long time between drinks for Uden
John Uden lifted the major spoils in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, RMF Silva, Grunt Work, 45km handicap event around the Dawsons Road block on Sunday.
It has been a long time between drinks for Club stalwart Uden who along with his co-markers had worked well together to find the front of the race and hold on bravely, keeping the chasing groups at bay.
In the charge to the line Uden proved to be the strongest holding out Hamish Stevenson and Nick Grijns, who claimed second and third places respectively.
John Doherty opened up his season account with a solid ride to record fourth place.
Kristine Marriott and Tony Ward rounded out the top six.
Back marker Kyle Gray fresh from claiming second place in the world age group road time trial championships in Australia on Thursday, secured fastest time honours, riding the distance in 64.04.
The juniors contested a 15km handicap event.
Declan Gilbert picked up his first piece of silverware, taking a hard fought victory.
Jamie Hooper continued his good early season form with a well-earned second place.
Charlotte Stevenson should be happy with her strong effort, seeing of the chasing riders to take the final podium position.
Hard chasing Thomas Stevenson was fourth with back marker Kaidyn Broomhall riding the course in 23.43, securing fastest time honours and fifth place.
Isabella Harris took the winners spoils in the 5km Future Roadies event.
Next week the Club will contest a 48km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block.
