Domigan battles conditions to win
Craig Domigan put the winter conditions aside charging through the field from the back mark to claim Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Hoopers Outdoor Power Centre, ACL 32 km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
Domigan was ably assisted by junior rider Jack Gorrie who produced a stand out ride.
Domigan’s riding time of 44.53 secured him fastest time honours.
Evergreen Tony Ward, and Cole Harris claimed second and third time respectively.
Ralph Tompsett showed he is on the up with a strong ride to take the second place spoils.
Paul Brake was another to produce an eye catching ride to secure the final podium position.
Nathan Richards and Gareth Lewis rounded out the top five.
A hardy bunch of juniors contested a 16km handicap event.
Kaidyn Broomhall laid down a top ride off the scratch mark to find the front of the race in the final couple of kilometres to take the win and fastest time honours.
Kaidyn rode the distance in 24.57.
Brother Blake Broomhall held on strongly to claim second place.
Oscar Gorrie was another to show he will be one to watch throughout the season with a great effort to take third place.
Nic Dalley, Lucy Hudson, and Zac Brookland who were right in it to the final straight rounded out the top six.
Next week the Club will contest a 38km handicap event around the Wakanui- Hakatere course, registration on Wilsons Road.
