Scott lifts Dean Cooksley Memorial

Hamish Scott produced a strong sprint finish to claim a hard fought victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Dean Cooksley Memorial, 43km handicap event around the Methven block on Sunday.

Scott and his co-markers rode a perfectly timed race to find the front inside the final 200 metres.

Scott managed to hold off the strong challenges of Monique Brake and Ralph Tompsett who were rewarded for great rides claiming second and third places respectively.

Paul Brake and Nick Grijns rode valiantly only to be hauled-in in the shadow of the finishing line recorded fourth and fifth places.

Fastest time honours and sixth place went to Kyle Gray, who rode the distance in 55.35.

Special mention to cadet rider Jack Gorrie who led the field in to claim first cadet home honours.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 14km handicap event.

Nick Dalley had a day to remember riding strongly off the front mark to keep the chasing riders at bay.

His efforts saw him lift the Dean Cooksley Memorial trophy.

Oscar Gorrie stormed into second place with a well timed sprint, seeing of the challenge of third place getter, Flynn Scott.

Casey Brake backed up last weeks top effort with fourth place.

Fifth place getter Eliza McKenzie also recorded fastest time, riding the course in 25.49.

Lani Clare having her first ride for the Club  took division 2 honours from Stacey Hooper and Allan Johns.

Teressa Hooper recorded fastest time honours.

Next week the lub will contest a 50km handicap event around the Rakaia block.
