Williams on the charge

The evergreen Paul Williams made every post a winner on Sunday when securing victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Aaron Stewart Memorial, McDonald Family Restaurant, 48km handicap event around the Grahams Road block.

Williams and his co-markers found the front of the race on the final lap and kept the pace solid ensuring the chasing groups were kept at bay.

Williams boldly jumped clear of his bunch in a solo bid for glory in the final kilometre and held on strongly to claim the win.

Eamon Hooper showed a clean set of heels in the sprint to the line to secure second place.

Glen Moore produced a top effort to seize the final podium position.

Dave Shurrock turned the clock back, pulling out a strong finish to take fourth place.

Don Morrison and Toresa Hooper were in the thick of the finish to round out the top six.

Back marker Thomas Audeau took fastest time honours, riding the course in 70.39.

Co-markers Tony Ward and Cole Harris recorded second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.

Louie Audeau secured a hard fought victory, winning the bunch sprint to lift the winners trophy.

Back marker Flynn Turnbull claimed second place and in doing so also lifted fastest time honours, riding the distance in 27.47.

Jack Hooper produced another solid ride to take third place.

Thomas Stevenson and Charlotte Stevenson rounded out the top five.

Division 2 places couldn’t be split with Rachel Shurrock and Alan Johns recording first equal placings.

Next week the Club will travel to Mt Somers to contest a 48km handicap event.
