Home town win

Logan Currie took the victor’s spoils in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, 45km handicap event around his home town of Methven on Sunday.

Riding off the back mark, Currie and is co-markers made light work of the rising windy conditions and the large field of riders exceeding 60 competitors, to find the front of the race in the concluding stages.

In a tight finish it was Currie who found the line the strongest with the ever present Kyle Gray on his shoulder securing second place.

Craig Domigan produced another trade mark tough effort to claim third place.

Currie claimed fastest time honours, riding the course in 62.07.

Sam Baltrop continued his string of great results with a solid fourth place.

Cole Harris revelled in the tough conditions to take fifth place with Thomas Audeau storming into sixth.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 15km handicap event.

Carter Shepherd continued his top start to the season, adding another cup to the cabinet with a great ride.

Hot on his tail in second place was scratch rider Flynn Turnbull who stormed through the field.

Flynn also claimed fastest time honours, riding the distance in 28.00.

Sophie Lampe having her first start will be one to watch with a strong effort to secure third place.

Zac Brookland and Jack Hooper rounded out the top five.

Rachel Shurrock took division 2 honours with Brian Ellis in second place.

Next week the Club will contest a 48km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block.
