Successful return for Hooper

Alex Hooper made a successful return to the bike on Sunday when taking victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Mathieson Chartered Accounts, Brad Hudson Flooring, 38km handicap event on the Wakanui – Hakatere course.

Hooper and his co-markers worked well together before combining with several chasing bunches to see them stay away from the pursuing marks.

In the charge to the line it was Hooper who had the best of the finish to take the  win, with Chris Gilbert showing strength to secure the second place spoils.

The ever present Gary Weston stormed into third place, with Andrew Shepherd hot on his heals in fourth.

Roger Wilson and Paul Brake rounded out the top six.

Solo scratch marker Kyle Gray produced an eye catching ride to secure fastest time honours, riding the course in 50.39.

Gareth Lewis and Mitch Brookland had a good day at the office, recording second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.

Charlotte Neal handled the windy conditions like a pro to take a hard earned win.

Zac Brookland claimed second place and fastest time honours, covering the distance in 39.15.

Rachel Shurrock produced a tough effort to secure division 2 honours.

Next week the Club will contest a 45km handicap event around the Dawsons Road block.
