Family quinella for the Hoopers  

The husband and wife team of Eamon and Teresa Hooper made every post a winner on Sunday when they filled the top two positions in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, ACL, PURE Sports Nutrition, 32km handicap race around the Wakanui Beach block.

Riding off the front mark, Team Hooper and their co-markers worked well together to keep the charging chasing bunches at bay, with Eamon securing the victory with Teresa in second place.   

Brian Roulston turned the clock back with a strong finish to secure the final podium position.

Dave Shurrock also produced a great ride to take the fourth place spoils.

Nigel Leary and Kerry Clough rounded out the top six.

Scratch marker Kyle Gray rode the distance in a quick 41.38, to take fastest time honours.

Co-markers Craig Domigan and Michael Audeau recorded second the third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.

Louie Audeau backed up last week’s top effort to take the victory in the junior event and also recorded fastest time, riding the course in 27.10.

Zac Brookland pushed the victor all the way to the line and was rewarded with second place.

Not to be out done by his parents, Jack Hooper had a good day claiming third place.

Charlotte Neal and Eliza McKenzie both returning from last weeks junior Tour of Southland rounded out the top five.

Rachel Shurrock secured Division 2 honours.

Next week the Club will contest a 36km handicap event on  the Wakanui – Hakatere course.
