Smithers all the way

Marcel Smithers continued her great form this season, taking victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Terrace Downs Resort, Jasma Farm, 47km handicap event on the undulating Lake Coleridge course on Sunday. 

Smithers made her move on the Acheron climb and created a good buffer to see her stay clear of the chasing group over the final 20km.

Glen Marshall had his best race of the season leading in the chasing group to secure second place.

Paul Williams rode strongly to ensure he was amongst the prizes, taking the third place spoils.

Roger Wilson found the course to his liking rounding out a good day in fourth place.

Michelle Davidson, Don Morrison, and Larry Neal put in solid rides to fill the top six spots.

Christchurch visitor Scott McDonnell secured the fastest time honours, riding the course in 68.37.

Oliver Davidson and Brent Spencer took second and third time honours.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 14km handicap event.

Daniel Gould backed up his great form in recent weeks to take the win and lift the Spicer Cup.

The Gould stable quinellaed the race, with little sister Sarah Gould producing a storming ride to take second place.

Tegan Marriott continued her great vein of good form to fill the final podium position.

Lily Davidson, Penny Marriott, and Jack Templeton rounded out the top six.

Scratch marker Ferg Sail took fastest time honours covering the distance in 25.00.

Brian Ellis claimed division 2 bragging rides, getting up over Kenny Johnston.

Next week the Club will contest a 48km handicap event around the Grahams Road block.
