FLYING SCOTSMAN SCORES VICTORY

Mid Canterbury’s very own “Flying Scotsman” Gregor Robertson took victory in Tinwald Cycling Club’s, Davidson Refrigeration and Electrical, 48km handicap event around the Grahams Road block on Sunday.

Robertson and his co-markers worked hard to find the front with the final result only decided on the line with some 13 riders crossing within seconds of each other.

Barry Begg, sporting a new stream lined hair style, continued his fine start to the season securing second place.

Gavin Borthwick, finding some of his good form of old, claimed the final podium position.

Brett McGinity, Donald Sutton and Ryan Jackson rounded out the top six.

Scratch marker Bailey O’Donnell secured fastest time honours riding the course in 66.23. Brad Hudson and Michael Templeton took second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.

Lily Davidson celebrated her first start in the big show with a hard earned win, beating home the charging duo of Jessie Banks and Jenna Borthwick.

Mitchell Fitzsimmons backed up from last week, claiming fastest time honours.

Oliver Davidson and Ethan Titheridge took second and third time respectively.

Rachel Russell claimed the major spoils in division 2, seeing off the challenges of Les Brown, Jacquie Fitzsimmons, and Hilary Singlewood.

Next week the Club will contest a graded scratch event around the Blackbridge block.
