Scratch markers go back to back

The penultimate race of the Tinwald Cycling Clubs season saw the back markers make a statement for the second week running, finding the front of the race in the concluding stages to secure the major spoils.

The Templeton Motors : Kellys Bar and Café, 65km handicap event was raced around the testing Wakanui 7 Rises course on Sunday.

Tony Ward had the final say in the charge to the line to claim victory and in doing so also recorded the fastest time, riding the course in 97.49.

Kyle Gray produced another stand out ride to take second place and time.

Larry Neal another who is in his best form, claimed the final podium position and recorded third time.

Mike Gallagher charged into fourth place with a solid ride, followed closely by Kristine Marriott and Rob Hooper.

The juniors and division 2 contested an 18km handicap event.

Christchurch visitor Riley Crampton and a great ride, taking the win after a hard fought sprint to the line with second place getter Jack Templeton.

Flynn Turnbull continues to impress, with a strong effort seeing him take third place and secure fastest time honours, riding the distance in 34.10.

Ryan Gallagher dug deep to take the fourth place spoils.

Sarah Gould and Tom Reid rounded out the top six.    

Kenny Johnston rode hard from the back mark to take division 2 honours.

Team Skinner, Debbie and Andy filled the next two places.

Next Saturday will see the Mid Canterbury Championship title up for grabs, contested over 64km around the Wakanui Beach block.
