Race Report - ACL, Hooper Outdoor Power Centre, 32km handicap event - Wakanui Beach block - Sunday 4th October 2026

Roger Wilson started Tinwald Cycling Club’s new season off in style taking victory in the ACL, Hooper Outdoor Power Centre, 32km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday.
Wilson and his co-markers managed their effort to perfection to see off the chasing bunch by a mere 20 seconds.
Wilson jumped clear in the shadow of the line to take the win from Dave Shurrock, who turned the clock back to secure second place.
Erin Kelly having her first start, showed she will be one to watch, claimed the third place spoils.
Flynn Beeman stormed into fourth place.
Steve Caldwell made his trip south worthwhile with a strong finish to take fifth place.
Ralph Tompsett rounded out the top six.
Back marker Craig Domigan claimed fastest time honours, riding the distance in 45.01.
Kyle Gray and Nathan Richards recorded second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 16km handicap event.
Jamie Hooper produced a top ride to take the victors spoils.
Harry Lewis having his first start was in the thick of the finish to secure a well-earned second place.
Declan Gilbert was hot on his tail in third place.
Flynn Scott and Nick Dalley rounded out the top five.
Scratch marker Blake Broomhall rode the course in 27.41 to take fastest time.
Nicola Nelson secured bragging rights in Division 2 with a great first up effort.

Next week the Club will contest a 38km handicap event around the Wakanui-Hakatere course, registration on Wilsons Road.
