Jason Christie and Lauren Ellis recently return from the National Road Championships held in Auckland over 18-21 October 2007.
Jason continued building towards the Oceania Champs with a 3rd place finish in the under 19 road race. A great result considering this is his first year in the grade. The 114km race came down to a 15 man bunch sprint. The distance was covered in 2hours 55minutes. This followed a top 10 finish in the time trial.
Lauren rode well, finishing 12th in the under 19 road race covering the 78km in 2hours 22 minutes, having also gained a top 10 finish in the time trial earlier in the championships.
The club are very proud of their efforts.

GIDDENS SHOWS CLASS - 2006 National time trail runner up Josie Giddens showed her class lifting the Rangitira Cup in the Tinwald Cycling Club, RX Plastics / McCrea Painting and Decorators Ltd, 36km handicap, raced around the Swamp Road block on Sunday.

TEAMS MINI TOUR - The Laser Electrical / Taste Cafe teams' mini tour took place on courses around the Wakanui District on Sunday. Four even teams containing 7 riders were created to take part in a 7km team's time trail, 16km mass start scratch race and a 7km individual time trail. Each team member's times were combined to determine the final positions.

CLOSE RACING ORDER OF THE DAY
Round 1 of the Roost Mortgage Brokers criterium series took place on Sunday on a fast smooth course in the industrial area. With the open and junior grades split into grades, close and exciting finishes were ensured with all races except A grade being decided in the final lap. Jason Christie who is building towards the Oceania Track and Road Championships in mid November, showed he is in good form riding away from fellow A graders to win convincingly from Hamish Wright and Tony Ward.

ALEX HOOPER WINS U13 JUNIOR TOUR OF SOUTHLAND |

Over the weekend of 29-30 September 2007, Alex took part in the 26th Yunca Junior Tour of Southland, an event Tinwald Cycle Club riders have preformed with distinction in over the years. The Club is well thought of and you didn't have to go far to be reminded of that by out of district riders, coaches and supporters. The event catering for U13,15,17,19 grades saw a record field of 93 riders participating.

EMMA RYAN LEADS HOME BIG FIELD - Tinwald Cycling Club hosted the Ashburton Contracting Ltd handicap race around the Winchmore Church block on Sunday. Another great field of over 60 riders took to the road in fine conditions. The open race was exactly that, the first 30 riders finishing within 90 seconds of each other, with the balance of the field close behind.

Jason has been named in the NZ Team to compete in the Oceania
Road and Track Championships to be held in
Invercargill over 14-18 November 2007. Jason
will ride in the under 19 grade both on the road and track. This is good reward for a top effort in Mexico. I am sure he will be looking forward to
participating on the road in Invercargill, taking the opportunity to make his
mark on both the track and road at the highest level. Well done.
