Hendrickson on the come back

Jelle Hendrickson come back from injury is well on track if his efforts in taking victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, On Your Bike Hire, 35km handicap event around the Winchmore Church block on Sunday is anything to go by.

Hendrickson and his co-markers worked hard to find the front in the second half of the race.

In the four up sprint to the line Hendrickson had the final say to the win and lift the Blackburn Cup.

Isabella Inglis ensured her first start in senior ranks was a memorable one, riding strongly to secure the second place spoils.

Charlotte Cox produced a top ride to charge into third place.

Christchurch visitor Simon White was in the thick of finish to take fourth place.  

The evergreen Paul Williams and Don Morrison fought out the finish for the top six, with Williams getting the nod by the barest of margins to take fifth place, with Morrison in sixth.

Scratch marker Kyle Gray rode the course in a quick 47.28 to secure fastest time honours.

Steve Hands and Tony Ward were in the thick of the finish to claim second and third time.

The juniors and Division 2 contested a 18km handicap event.

Back marker Zoe Spillane produced a top shelf ride to take both the victory and fastest time honours.  Zoe covered the distance in 29.21.

Sarah Gould kicked the year off in great fashion securing the second place spoils.

Zac Brookland ensured his trip north was worth it, getting up on the line in a hard fought sprint to take third place.

Ryan Gallagher continued his string of good results with fourth place.

Laughlin Hall and Copper Spillane rounded out the top six.

A good field of division 2 riders went to the line.

Kenny Johnston had the best of the bunch sprint to take the win and in doing so secured fastest time, from Andy Skinner and Brian Ellis.

Next week the Club will contest a 45km handicap event around the Christies Road block.    

Gray takes hard earned victory

Kyle Gray played his cards early and it paid off handsomely when he lift the Tinwald Cycling Club, NBS Ashburton, Club Champions title on Sunday.

Raced around the Wakanui Beach block over 64km, the first spilt of the race came 10km in, as the bunch creased the second rise.

The break saw 9 riders go clear and settle into their work with the major prize in their sights.

Fresh from claiming victory in the 5 Passes Tour, Gray attacked the group with 6km to go and backed his prolonged power to stay away.

The chasing bunch gave nothing away, but Gray held on bravely to claim the win by 1 second on the line from the fast finishing Steve Hands.

Gray rode the distance in 89.55.

Larry Neal was in the thick of the finish to claim third place honours.

Fourth placegetter Tony Ward lifted the vet 3 ribbon.

Cole Harris dug deep to secure the senior men’s title.

Michael Gallagher produced a top ride to claim the vet 2 spoils.

Kristine Marriott laid down one of her trade mark tough rides to get into the front break with her efforts earning the women’s Club Championship title.

Monique Brake put in a solid days work in chasing group to claim the vet 1 women’s ribbon and second place overall.

Sam Cuttle efforts saw him lift the first under 19 home cup and ribbon.

In the closest contest of the day Don Morrison out sprinted John Doherty to claim the vet 4 ribbon.

Paul Brake produced his best race of the season to claim the sealed handicap honours.

Junior Club titles were also up for grabs, with a good field of riders contesting the 16km course.  

Mitch Brookland made his last race as a junior one to remember taking out the under 17 champions title.

Zoe Spillane continued her good season lifting the under 17 girls ribbon.

Zac Brookland rounded out a great day for Team Brookland securing the under 15 boys title.

Eliza McKenzie was rewarded for a great ride with the under 15 girls ribbon.

Tom Reid pulled out all the stops to take the sealed handicap honours.

Division 2 saw a close fought battle with Kerry Clough coming out on top, with Ross Templeton and Debbie Skinner filling the final podium spots.      

O’Briens hard work starting to pay off

Brad O’Brien’s Coast to Coast training programme paid dividends on Sunday when he took victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, McIntosh Group, 57km handicap event around the Blackbridge block.

It was a hard fought win, decided on the line after a tight bunch sprint to the finish.

O’Brien’s victory saw him lift the Eddie Ward Shield.

Doug Coley will be happy with his days work putting in a solid effort to secure the second place spoils.

Roger Wilson was rewarded for his recent the hard work, stepping up onto the final podium position.

Don Morrison was in the thick of the finish to claim fourth spot.

Jono Nelson took fifth place, with sixth place getter Tesh McIntosh awarded the Chris Ward Cup for first lady home.

Craig Domigan continued his strong season securing fastest time honours, riding the course in 79.31.

Co-markers Kyle Gray and Glen Gould took second and third time.

The juniors and division 2 contested a 19km handicap event.

Back marker Mitch Brookland produced a great ride to get through the field and take the win and in doing also lifted fastest time, covering the distance in 30.13.

Lochlan Hall found the line strongly to take the second place spoils with Olivia Ewing producing a strong effort in third place.

Leah Reid, Charlotte Neal, and Isabella Inglis filled the top half dozen places.  

Alan Johns took the division 2 spoils form Ross Templeton, and Kerry Clough.  

Next week Club titles will be up for grabs, raced over 64km around the Wakanui Beach block.
