Battling Victory for Hudson

Brad Hudson not only battled his fellow riders to claim victory in Tinwald Cycling Clubs, Ashburton Contracting Ltd, 32km handicap event around the Wakanui Beach block on Sunday, but also overcame the challenge of the strong winds that buffeted the county.

Hudson and his co-markers worked hard to find the front inside the last 5km and secured the win with a hard fought sprint finish, Hudson edging out second place getter Sam Letham with Steve Hands taking the final podium position.

Nathan Tew, Matt Marshall, and Rob Hooper rounded out the top six.

Scratch marker Brett Grieve rode the course in 52.33 to lift fastest time honours from Chris Karton and Michael Templeton.

The juniors contested a time trial with a flying tail wind followed by a tough slog back into the head wind.

Matt Clough continued his good form to take the major spoils from Connor Leov who was sporting an arm cast. Oliver Davidson showed he is in for a solid season with a fighting third place. Isaac Earl, Matheson Colquhoun and Maddie Lowry all dug deep to secure top six finishes.

Next week the Club will contest a 38km handicap event on the Wakanui – Hakatere course.
